Floyd Mayweather doesn’t have to do much in the world of boxing, he’s one of the greatest ever to put on a pair of gloves and has never been beaten during his professional career – that’s 50 fights without a loss.
Well, he’s apparently decided that he’s going to put that record on the line once again and come out of retirement to take on Manny Pacquiao in December. That would be 51 – 0 if he wins.
He posted a video to Instagram that showed Money Mayweather and Pac-Man together. The post read: “I’m coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year. Another 9 figure pay day on the way”
The footage was taken in Japan, where Mayweather is currently on tour. What better way to announce what you’d have to imagine will be one of the biggest fights of all time in terms of pay-per-view sales and money generated?

And there was us hoping that he would only come out of retirement to fight KSI. The two have met once before, back in 2015. That was about 5 years too late for a lot of boxing fans, but it became one of the richest fights in history regardless and saw them both net a huge payday.↚

Mayweather won - obviously - by unanimous decision to protect the most important number in his entire career, the zero in the loss column on his professional record.
Since then, Mayweather retired, then came out of retirement to fight Conor McGregor. He beat the Irishman and there had been talk of another bout, this time in the MMA Octagon. This sensational announcement will make boxing fans more excited than the prospect of that, surely.

For his part, Pacquiao has since taken up a career in politics in his home country, The Philippines.
Let’s hope that the two fighters, despite no longer being in the prime of their lives, can still put on a show. Any fight in which the Mayweather undefeated record is on the line is guaranteed to be a big deal.
It joins a packed line-up of great fights coming up soon, with Tyson Fury due to fight Deontay Wilder, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fighting ‘GGG’ Gennady Golovkin, and Anthony Joshua vs Alexander Povetkin.
Great time to be a fan of proper, competitive, skilled boxing.
All of those fights promise to be a hell of a lot more interesting than any fights between various YouTube no-marks.
